Bruno Fernando is on the verge of being the first Angolan born player to be drafted into the NBA. Once he arrives, Fernando’s primary position should be at power forward slot, where he will be best suited. His secondary position should be at the five, especially if you want to go with a slightly smaller line up. Fernando is an offensively efficient, double-double big. He brings adequate size to the four but is slightly undersized (6’8.75” without shoes) at the five. In addition to his height and mass (at PF), Fernando possesses a 7’3.25” wingspan and a 9’ 2” standing reach.
When you mix his above attributes with agility, athleticism and energy you get a player that will finish plays around the basket, score from the post, rebound, knock down foul shots, defend, contest, disrupt, and block shots. He’ll knock down the mid range jumper as well but it remains to be seen if he will do so consistently. Last but not least, you get a big with vision and the potential to be a solid passing big man on a consistent basis.
At the NBA level expect Fernando to produce more offense. With an increase in minutes and field goal attempts, Fernando’s scoring production will increase as well. In addition to projecting as a better scorer than his collegiate numbers suggest, Fernando will have a successful NBA career because of the following skill sets that will translate at the next level:
