Quentin Grimes is a top NBA prospect that committed to the Kansas Jayhawks. Grimes had a distinguished high school career, as he won multiple awards during his senior season. Grimes was highly recruited by some of the most prestigious college basketball coaches and will look to make a significant impact at the next level. 

Personal Life  Quentin Grimes was born on May 8, 2000, and grew up playing basketball in The Woodlands, which is a suburb of Houston, Texas. Grimes has an older half-brother, Tyler Myers, that plays professional hockey for the Winnipeg Jets. If Grimes eventually gets selected in the NBA, they will be the first pair of brothers to have both played professionally in the NBA and NHL. 

High School Career  Grimes has a storied high school career, as he averaged 29.5 points, 4.9 assists, 8.6 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 1.5 blocks each game during his senior year. Grimes helped the College Park Cavaliers achieve a 21-13 record and played a vital role in their success. Grimes finished his high school career with 2,863 points, 582 assists, 854 rebounds, 213 steals, and 127 blocks. All of this hard work was recognized with the All-Greater Houston Player of the Year award, and he was also the Gatorade State Player of the Year. Grimes was also a McDonald's All-American and was selected as a participant to represent the United States at the 2018 FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship. 

2018 FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship  Grimes played an essential role in leading the United States to a fifth consecutive FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship. Grimes was named the MVP of the tournament, as he averaged over 14 points per game and the United States finished with a perfect 6-0 record. Other teams that participated in the competition include Canada, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Chile, Dominican Republic, Panama, and Ecuador. 

College Career  Grimes is a 5-star recruit that was highly sought after by many of the top basketball colleges across the nation. Grimes eventually settled on the Univerisity of Kansas, as he is a combo guard that is expected to make an immediate impact at the collegiate level and is top NBA prospect. The Kansas Jayhawks are coming off of a highly successful season, as they went 31-8 and lost to the Villanova Wildcats in the Final Four. Grimes will look to play a significant role in leading the Kansas Jayhawks back to the Final Four, as he is joined with other highly ranked recruits, such as Devon Dotson, David McCormack, and Ochai Agbaji. 

NBA Future & Skillset  Grimes is expected to be a first-round draft pick, with many NBA draft analysts predicting that he will be selected anywhere from the top 10 or a mid-first round selection. Some NBA draft analysts believe that Grimes has a strong frame and size that will make it easier to transition to the NBA. They also believe that his mixture of athleticism, quick first step and his ability to maintain excellent body control, will allow him to get to the basket and finish plays. Grimes is also very aggressive, which will enable him to quickly develop a rhythm while shooting from the midrange and beyond the arc according to some scouts.  Many NBA Draft analysts also agree that Grimes is a solid ballhandler and understands how to space the floor, while also drawing fouls at a steady rate, as he is quick for his size.
